Pedestrian_hit_by_car_in_Holtsville_diesA pedestrian who was hit by a car while crossing North Ocean Avenue in Holtsville Monday night has died of his injuries, police say.

The 39-year-old man, Timothy Miller of Patchogue, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, Newsday reports. Shortly after 10 p.m., Miller was struck by a 2013 Nissan Sentra as he was crossing North Ocean Avenue, south of Peconic Avenue, police said. The Sentra was driven by Molly Silvestre, 20, of Selden.  The Holtsville Fire Department treated Miller was at the scene for head and chest injuries, then transported him to the hospital.

Silvestre’s car was impounded for a safety check, Newsday reports. Silvestre stayed at the scene after hitting Miller, and, according to News 12, she is not facing any charges at this time. Detectives from the Fifth Squad are investigating the accident. Police ask anyone with information about the accident to call 631.854.8552.
