Oyster Bay Crash Kills One, Injures Two

One person was killed and two others were injured on May 13 in a motor vehicle accident in Oyster Bay, New York.

The New York State Police told LongIsland.com the collision occurred at approximately 1:34 p.m. on the Bethpage State Parkway in Oyster Bay, north of the Southern State Parkway. A Honda driven by Kelly Georgens, 36, of Seaford, New York, was traveling southbound when the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane of travel and struck a Dodge, driven by 42-year-old Thomas Scaccia. An 11-year-old passenger was also in Scaccia’s vehicle.

Georgens was pronounced dead at the scene. Scaccia and his 11-year-old passenger were taken to Nassau University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. It is unknown why Georgens crossed into oncoming traffic, according to LongIsland.com. The New York State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them at 631-756-3300.
