The bus’ occupants suffered minor injuries, but the driver of the SUV had a serious leg fracture. All of the victims on the bus were taken by ambulance to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, and the driver of the SUV was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, according to Newsday.
Nassau County police said the accident, which occurred at 8:36 a.m., briefly closed the southbound roadway at Harbor Hills Road. Two adults and two children aboard the minibus were injured in the crash, and all suffered “cuts, bumps and bruises.” Police told Newsday that no criminality was involved and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. They declined to release the identities of those involved.
Back in May, five Farmingdale High School students were killed after the car they were traveling in crossed into oncoming traffic on Conklin Street in Farmingdale in the early morning hours. Two people in the other vehicle were seriously injured. The teens had apparently been drag-racing at the time of the crash, and had been spotted drinking in the woods the night before, according to CBS New York.
