The man was driving his Toyota westbound on Vehslage Street when his car crashed into a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck at the corner of North Ocean Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. the Long Island Press reported.
Emergencies crews transported the victim to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.
The other driver, a 22-year-old man from Bay Shore, was also taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Long Island Press.

Earlier this month an accident in Rockland County claimed the life of a Long Island man.
A 23-year-old man and was killed and a female driver seriously injured after their car rolled over and slid down an embankment in Haverstraw, according to authorities.
The man was declared dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred on August 7 around 8:50 p.m., Newsday reported. The driver, identified as a 22-year-old female from Dix Hills, was listed in serious condition at Nyack Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman told Newsday.
The woman was reportedly driving a 2007 Ford east bound on Willow Grove Road, when she lost control of the vehicle. The car flipped over and stormed 20 feet down an embankment, according to Newsday. Police speculated that the vehicle flipped over several times before it came to a stop against a tree.
Speed was believed to have been a factor.
